How we assist with housing applications
Understanding application requirements
Going through what each housing provider or program asks for, so there are no surprises partway through.
Organizing necessary documents
Identifying what you already have, what is missing and what needs to be updated.
Preparing application materials
Getting materials complete and consistent before they are submitted. Clients review and sign their own applications.
Tracking application deadlines
Keeping due dates, waiting periods and requested follow-ups in one place.
Coordinating follow-up steps
Following up on submitted applications and, with your authorization, supporting communication with housing providers.
Identifying appropriate housing resources
Pointing you toward public and community resources that may be relevant to your situation.
What housing applications usually ask for
Requirements vary by housing provider and program, but most applications ask for some combination of identification, proof of income, rental or housing history, and references. Assistance programs often add their own forms and supporting documents.
Most delays come from missing or inconsistent paperwork. Sorting that out before applying is usually the most useful thing we do.
Please do not send Social Security numbers, banking information or medical records through the website form.
Part of our paid services, not a separate free service
Housing application assistance is not offered as a stand-alone free service. The free 15-minute consultation is used to discuss your needs and determine whether our services may be appropriate.
Document readiness is reviewed in the Housing Stability Assessment. Hands-on application and documentation assistance is provided through Housing Transition Support, and ongoing documentation assistance through Housing Stability Support.
What we cannot promise
Housing providers and assistance programs make their own decisions. We do not promise:
- Approval of any application
- Priority placement or a faster place on a waiting list
- Access to restricted or closed housing lists
- Eligibility for government or other assistance programs
